Trichotillomania treatment can be difficult to find. Until recently, there has been little public awareness of the problem. Trich. and other Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors can be difficult to stop. Sometimes clients feel ashamed and embarrassed and avoid seeking treatment. But there is no more reason to feel embarrassed about pulling your hair than any about any other issue, such as depression or anxiety.
I am a graduate of the Trichotillomania Learning Center’s Virtual Professional Institute. I use the Comprehensive Model for Behavioral Treatment of Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors. (BFRBs include hair pulling, skin picking, and others). I complement it with Habit Reversal Training, the most effective older treatment.
