ERP is a method of facing your fears directly, in a graduated way, with lots of support. It is always done with client collaboration and there is no pressure to go faster than you want to go. It’s very important to have an ERP therapist who is well trained, as exposures have to be well-designed and match the anxiety exactly, or they will be ineffective. Parents help develop the exposure plan and work with kids at home on exposures.
I am a graduate of the Advanced Forum of the Behavior Therapy Training Institute of the IOCDF. This is the most advanced ERP training available, with experts in the field.
